Paper

Bring something to inspire, share, start us off? Jan to provide creative space and main exercise.

Our second meeting was my house (Jan Ott) and the theme was paper. After some delicious snacks, I opened up my craft box and everyone took out pens, oil pastels, colored pencils and, of course, paper. We did an exercise with words and scribbles. This was based on one I had done with our psychologist when she was visiting the high school. The idea is to scribble all over a page with no thought and in no "order," then turn the paper in every direction until an image "shows itself." Then you can add some lines or other colors to make the image more clear to others. Once done, create a list of ten words that are evoked by the image. Now, write a poem that includes those ten words and is about the image. There were lots of interesting stories to come out.

Once we shared out stories, we got creating. I found some origami paper and my Unit Origami book and created a cool little box with additions, which, when my technology begins to work, I will attempt to upload again. It did not want to copy and paste. Others did a fair amount of drawing, and I apologize, they all got away before I took pictures. Susan created a list of blessings - words that were blessings to us and only got halfway through the C's, which included (surprise!) chocolate! A fun exercise that focused some of the conversation.
